The Pokemon GO team reveals it is currently rolling out the daily and weekly bonuses update for Pokemon GO, along with some other tweaks and fixes for the game.

After its initial success, it wasn’t surprising to see Pokemon GO lose much of its daily player base. Between the introductory excitement fading and the tougher grind gamers experienced at later levels, it was an expected reduction for the popular augmented reality game.

Recently, Niantic and The Pokemon Company revealed plans to introduce daily rewards that would provide worthwhile bonuses for those players who stick with the game and complete daily and weekly tasks. This weekend, the Pokemon GO team provided some additional details about the update, which is planned for both iOS and Android devices.

The information came by way of a Google+ post from the development team. The notes kick off by saying the team is currently rolling out the update to Pokemon GO. From there, the developer delivers a few patch notes about the previously announced daily and weekly bonuses. Players will “earn bonuses for the first Pokemon catch and PokeStop visit each day", and a “larger bonus” when they complete these tasks seven days in a row.

IGN offered a few details about the update, stating players will earn 500 experience points and 600 Stardust each day they complete these tasks, and an extra 2,000 XP and 2,400 Stardust as the weekly bonus. These bonuses will undoubtedly be beneficial to long-time players, especially those at the upper levels of the game. All-in-all, players can earn 5,500 XP and 6,600 Stardust per week, on top of the XP, candies, and Stardust they earn as they play the game.

Niantic is making a few other adjustments to Pokemon GO with the update. According to the Google+ post, when players defeat a Gym Leader at a rival Gym, they will have a brief window of time to place a Pokemon in the open Gym before rival factions can attack it. Additionally, the amount of Prestige a rival Gym loses when a regular Gym member is defeated has increased, and the amount of Prestige gained by players training at a friendly Gym will be lowered.

The final note in the post is that the Pokemon GO team is working on minor text fixes, which likely won’t have any direct effect on gameplay or player experience.

Pokemon GO Update Arrives With Catch Bonuses and Gym Training Updates - Pokemon GO Chameleon Gym

With the update now on the way, players should hopefully start seeing their bonuses pop up in the next day or two. It will be interesting to see if the update is able to convince departed players to return to the game and spend even a few minutes each day gathering the bonus XP and Stardust from catching Pokemon and visiting PokeStops.
