The latest Pokemon GO update rolled out this week, and with it came the highly anticipated introduction of Gen 4 Pokemon. While some players are happy to have started spotting Sinnoh region Pokemon in the game, others are noticing that the latest update also brought with it a "bug" that weakened some players' Pokemon.
A user on Reddit reported that after the Gen 4 Pokemon GO update and stat rebalance, his Pokemon are no longer at full health. Because of this bug, users with very powerful Pokemon need to spend a lot of unnecessary potions in order to get their Pokemon to full health again. Some players resorted to making their Pokemon faint completely in gyms, as it seems that after the damaged Pokemon are revived, their health is back to full capacity again. The screenshot below shows one player's Pokemon after the stat rebalance.
Initially, it seemed like Niantic had fixed the problem, as some users' Pokemon were no longer damaged or fewer Pokemon were damaged, but many players reported that it has, in fact, not been fixed and that their Pokemon's health is still less than full. Many suspect that Niantic was trying to fix another bug, and that coincidentally also fixed this problem for some users.
Niantic has not given any indication up to now as to when this bug will be fixed. In the meantime players are making suggestions on how to bypass this bug, such as healing Pokemon slowly over time, or just not battling with the damaged Pokemon until it gets fixed. For many players that are participating in the latest raids, this is especially frustrating, as they do not have enough potions to heal all their Pokemon before their raids start.
Despite this bug, the new update added some new features that many players will enjoy in Niantic's constant efforts to maintain its Pokemon GO fan base. We hope that this bug will be fixed soon and that more Gen 4 Pokemon will be spotted soon.
Pokemon GO is available now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
