While it was previously known that the upcoming Pokémon GO community day would focus on Dratini and the special move Draco Meteor, exact details have been sparse. With the possibility of obtaining a Dragonite that knows Draco Meteor, many fans may very well have their interests peaked by the fourth event this February, and Niantic has now revealed more information about the upcoming community day.
Like the community day last month, the event focuses on a specific Pokémon with a special move. However, "day" is a bit of a strong word, as the event only lasts a couple hours. In the US, the event will begin at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET on February 24 and last for three hours; in Europe, the Pokémon GO community day will begin at 10 AM GMT on February 24 and last for three hours.
During this three-hour period, however, Dratini will have its spawn rate increased. Moreover, catching any Pokémon during this three-hour event will earn triple the amount of stardust, and Lure Modules will last for three hours instead of the typical thirty minutes. It is worth noting that obtaining Draco Meteor requires evolving a Dragonair into a Dragonite during this period, but the requirement does not determine whether the Dragonair was caught before or during the event.
This Dratini-themed community day follows the Year of the Dog event, which still has a couple of hours left at the time of this writing. It also follows the Pikachu community day, and it is worth noting that special events such as these often involve shiny Pokémon. For example, the Pikachu community saw an increased spawn rate for shiny Pikachu, but it is unknown at this time if shiny Dratini will have some place in the event.
The increase in events this month also led to more shiny Pokémon appearing in the game, which is something many gamers may love. Just as many gamers may love to own a Dragonite that knows Draco Meteor, so Trainers should be saving onto Pokéballs and Pinap berries for the upcoming event.
