Since Pokemon GO originally launched, players have been begging for the ability to influence Pokestop and Gym locations and descriptions. All of the original game locations were ported from Niantic's other big title, Ingress, but PoGO players have wanted the ability to influence the map for years. The groundwork for that opportunity was finally put in place with the launch of Wayfarer earlier this fall, but there have been some bumps along the road.

Less than 24 hours ago Niantic took to Twitter to announce that Pokestop and Gym contributions were officially opened and that Pokemon GO trainers could suggest improvements to in-game points of interest, but the system quickly became overwhelmed. Within hours of the announcement a follow up message confirmed that Pokestop and Gym contributions were being disabled to stabilize the system.

The feature, while it was available, offered trainers the ability to suggest improvements to PokeStop and Gym information, such as titles, descriptions, and photos. All of those suggestions are managed through Niantic Wayfarer, but the rush to make suggestions was so overwhelming that the system began to suffer from stability issues almost immediately after the options became available.

Hopefully this is a short outage while Niantic just adjusts to the high-demand for the tool. Players are definitely excited to continue using Wayfarer to help improve the game experience in their local areas, so this feature is pretty crucial to offering the community the chance to contribute and make their voices heard. We'll continue monitoring the Niantic Support page for updates and let everyone know once the feature has been restored.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
