The final weeks of the Season of Go are approaching, but the excitement isn't over yet. There are a handful of events to keep trainers busy throughout the August 2022 Pokemon GO calendar and lots of daily tasks and challenges to keep players engaged. This month has a particularly strong showing of meta-relevant Battle Raid bosses, so there are plenty of reasons to log in and battle at least once a day (maybe more if players have Raid Passes to spare).

This afternoon brings a fresh rotation which means that players are wrapping up their final Palkia battles for the month and preparing for Genesect to take over. During this rotation Pokemon GO trainers will be battling for Chill Drive Genesect, which adds even more motivation to successfully complete this legendary fight and earn as many Premier Balls as possible for the encounter. Achieving that goal is going to require some careful planning and heading into the fight with a supreme roster of counters to take advantage of Genesect's weaknesses.

Luckily, countering Gensect is pretty simple. Genesect is a dual Steel- and Bug-type, which makes its primary weakness Fire-types. Many trainers likely have a handul of meta-relevant Fire-types in their collections with the right move sets and high CPs, but it's still worth reviewing the recommended top counters just to look for areas of improvement.

In some cases, very experienced players with perfect counter rosters are able to duo this Battle Raid if they have Friendship bonuses and Weather boosting on their side. That said, it's much safer to stick to groups of four or more allies to ensure no Battle Raid Passes are wasted on the attempt. Players will also want to remember that the above suggestions are ideal, but the raid can be defeated without the perfect counter roster. The most important thing is to enter the battle with enough friends (at least three or four mid- to high-level players) and to focus on using Pokemon that take advantage of that Fire-type weakness.
