Despite some complaints concerning the Mareep Community Day, the event remains as popular as ever, with several Pokemon GO players anxious for May’s upcoming event. Typically, the next Community Day is announced shortly after the end of the last one, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the latest rumored Pokemon to be confirmed.

In an e-mail (depicted below), Niantic Support seemingly reveals that the fire-type starter Charmander will be featured in May’s Community Day. It is worth noting, however, that this e-mail hasn’t been verified, so this reveal should be taken with a healthy grain of salt until a more official announcement. Nevertheless, if this proves to be true, then Pokemon GO players may be ecstatic to have the chance to get their hands on a shiny Charizard – with a special move to boot.

If May’s featured Pokemon is Charmander, then this also supports a theory that Niantic is rotating starters in its Community Day events. First, it was Pikachu, then Dratini, Bulbasaur was next, and finally Mareep. If Charmander does follow suit, then every other Community Day event has featured a starter Pokemon (which would suggest players could expect to see Squirtle in July). Of course, this is only speculation, but it is something worth serious consideration.

As likely as the aforementioned speculation seems, there is no guarantee about Charmander, especially considering several players may have gotten the fully evolved form during the ongoing Kanto event (if not before). The Mareep Community Day also proves that Niantic is willing to take this event to the Johto region; however, even players who have a Charizard will likely love a shiny, so it’s definitely possible.

The community can only wait for confirmation from Niantic, but in the meantime, Pokemon GO players may want to know that a translated blurb in Spain’s Official Nintendo Magazine reveals that Pokemon on the Switch will kick off the 8th generation. Whether waiting for more information concerning Pokemon GO events or Pokemon on the Switch, it's a good time to be a member of the community. Good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
