Since its first appearance in Pokemon GO, Kyogre has been a major player in the PvE scene. The powerful Gen 3 Water-type Legendary Pokemon has proven its value in the mobile game's metagame time and time again. It is a top-tier pick when players are looking for strong Water-types to counter a Raid Boss and having another high IV copy of Kyogre in a collection is never going to be a bad thing.
With that in mind, many Pokemon GO trainers are going to want to take advantage of the rare chance to catch Kyogre when it returns to the game this week as part of the Hoenn Celebration event. The week long festivity offers players the chance to fill in any blank Hoenn Pokedex entries thanks to increased spawns, special Egg Hatches, and a lineup of Hoenn Battle Raid bosses. Those limited time Raid bosses happen to include Kyogre, so trainers who are play their cards right can earn a couple of encounters this week and hopefully secure the big blue bruiser.

How To Find And Catch Kyogre
During the Hoenn Celebration week in Pokemon GO, Kyogre will be returning to 5-star Battle Raids for a limited time. Players have between Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time and Sunday, January 24, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time to find Kyogre at a 5-star Battle Raid if they want a chance to catch it during the short event. Once a Battle Raid is located at a nearby Gym, trainers need to team up with a group of other players (ideally in-game Friends who are on the same team) to defeat the Legendary Pokemon by taking advantage of its weakness to Electric- and Grass-types.
After players manage to defeat the Raid Boss, they'll want to use Golden Razz Berries and land Great or Perfect curveball throws in order to maximize their chance of catching Kyogre. Players can also increase their odds by dealing extra damage during the battle and teaming up with other trainers of the same team (Valor, Mystic, or Instinct) to ensure they earn as many Premium Pokeballs for the encounter as possible. As always, luck is going to play a factor in the success rate of these encounters, but following those steps should hopefully lead to a successful encounter and a new Kyogre added to the collection.
