The newest additions to Pokemon GO's vast roster of Pokemon are Galarian Slowpoke and Galarian Slowbro. Introducing these Pokemon is the current in-game event known as A Very Slow Discovery. It will be running from June 8th at 10:00 AM to June 13th at 8:00 PM in players' local times.

Galarian Slowpoke and Galarian Slowbro differ in more ways than just appearance compared to their counterparts that have been in Pokemon GO for years now. Just looking at types, Galarian Slowpoke is a pure Psychic-type Pokemon with it evolving into the dual Poison and Psychic-type, Galarian Slowbro.

The current event is the perfect time for players to go out and catch a Galarian Slowpoke of their own. It is additionally required for the current Collection Challenge, so players wanting to complete it will need Galarian Slowpoke before they run out of time.

During A Very Slow Discovery, players can encounter Galarian Slowpoke as a one star raid boss. It, however, isn't the only one, as Alolan Grimer, Shellder, Shinx, and Timburr also are currently appearing as one star raid bosses.

Those who chose to battle Galarian Slowpoke in a raid are likely able to finish it off just by themselves. If players want to go for overkill, however, players can go against its weaknesses which are Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type moves.

Another method for catching Galarian Slowpoke is by completing specific event-exclusive field research tasks. In order to get these tasks, players must spin PokeStops and have a free space in their field research task list. Not all of them will grant encounters with a Galarian Slowpoke, but the ones that do are:

Evolve three Slowpoke

Win a raid in under 60 seconds

Once players have a Galarian Slowpoke, the process of evolving one into Galarian Slowbro is a bit of a strange one. First, players must set their Galarian Slowpoke as their buddy Pokemon. After that, players need to catch 30 Poison-type Pokemon while their Galarian Slowpoke is their active buddy. This will unlock the ability for Galarian Slowpoke to evolve via 50 Slowpoke candies.

The A Very Slow Discovery event is a good time to rack up on Poison-type Pokemon, as Grimer and Gulpin are among the increased Pokemon spawns for the event. Players can additionally catch Alolan Grimer and Toxicroak from raid battles to help with the Poison-type count. Gulpin can also be one of the rewards for field research tasks.
