Originally from the Kalos region, Espurr is one of the finest felines in all of Pokemon. Since it joined the group of the over 700 pocket monsters available in Pokemon GO, many players have been out trying to catch the perfect one to evolve into a Meowstic.
With Espurr not appearing like other Pokemon on the map and its ability to evolve into different forms depending on gender, players need to make sure they take care to raise the purrfect psychic kitty of their dreams.
Catch Espurr In 1-Star Raids
The best place to find an Espurr to catch is by hunting for raids. Espurr appears in 1-star raids and will be relatively easy to take down compared to stronger Pokemon. Players will want to be absolutely sure they take down Espurr every time so they don't waste valuable raid passes or other resources and don't need to grind more. The best way to do so is to attack Espurr's weaknesses in battles to assure victory.
Espurr Weaknesses:
- Bug Types - Beedrill, Pinsir, Scisor, and Genesect are all excellent choices.
- Dark Types - Tyrantiar, Houndoom, Yvetal, and Darkai pack serious punches.
- Ghost Types - Gengar, Hoopa, and Giratina will haunt Espurr into an early defeat.
Espurr Resistances:
- Fighting Types - Machamp, Conkeldurr, and Blaziken are best left at home.
- Psychic Types - Mewtwo, Exeggutor, and Alakazam should stay on the sidelines.
Evolving Espurr Into Meowstic
Before evolving Espurr, it's important to make sure to appraise it with one of the three team leaders. This is to make sure they evolve the Pokemon with the best stats possible to be used in potential future battles. The best move set for Espurr is Scratch and Psychic as well, so players should be sure to try and get this move combination or use Stardust to change it.
There are exceptions to this however as players that want to evolve Espurr into a shiny Meowstic or want a male or female Meowstic specifically as it has different forms depending on gender.
Candy Cost For Evolving
Players looking to get a Meowstic on their team will need to make sure they have enough Espurr candies to do so. It costs 50 candies per evolution so players that want both a male and female Meowstic should make sure they have at least 100 candies total. Players can use Rare Candies for this task but it's likely better to save those for Pokemon that are harder to evolve.
There are methods that can help players grind for candy much faster so they have to use fewer raid passes on Espurr including:
- Using Razz Berries and Pinap Berries (especially Silver Pinapp Berries and Golden Razz Berries) when catching Espurr.
- Making an Espurr a walking companion.
- Transferring Espurr to other players which offers one candy per transfer.
- Transferring Espurr to Professor Willow. Just remember these Espurr can't come back to join the team!
