August is looking to be quite the month for Niantic's massive popular title, Pokemon GO. While the game has managed to bring back the in-person GO Fest events this year, staples of a pre-pandemic world, not everyone was able to participate, especially those who were not willing to travel to places like Germany or Seattle, Washington. Sapporo, Japan is getting the third and final GO Fest this coming weekend, though there are plenty more events planned throughout August for those who prefer to be remote.

In addition to raids featuring the likes of Palkia, Genesect, Zamazenta, and Zacian, Niantic is planning the GO Fest finale towards the end of August. Unlike the previous 3 events this year, this one is open to all trainers regardless of location and gives Pokemon GO trainers an opportunity to snag the four recently added Ultra Beasts and a chance to obtain a mythical Pokemon, Shaymin's Sky Forme. However, while that's happening in a few weeks, Pokemon GO is getting a new limited time event that kicks off next week.

Starting on August 10, Pokemon GO celebrates bug types with the Bug Out! limited time event. For six days, players will see an increase to bug types that include Caterpie, Weedle, Joltik, Venipede, and more. As part of the event, a new Collection Event will also begin, with a list of bug-type Pokemon to catch leading to the Bug Catcher Pose and 15,000XP once complete. As well as surprise encounters for taking photos, players can also earn 2x XP for getting Nice, Great, and Excellent throws.

However, the biggest piece to this event is the introduction of new Pokemon to the mobile game. During the Bug Out! event, players may also come across Grubbin, who can then evolve into Charjabug for 25 candy, and then Vikavolt for 100 candy after that. It's worth noting that players will also need to be near a Magnetic Lure module in order to evolve this final form. Not only that, Mega Scizor also makes its Pokemon GO debut as part of Mega Raids during this event as well.

With so many events happening within August, it's reasonable to assume that players will be staying pretty active to stay up to date with all of the latest content. Of course, this includes the monthly community day event which is going to include the Galarian version of Zigzagoon, but for those logging in each day can earn themselves Galarian Stunfisk for their Research Breakthrough encounter. Simply finishing seven tasks, 1 per day, will earn themselves items, resources, XP, and an encounter with this Trap Pokemon.

Pokemon GO is available on iOS and Android mobile devices.
