Update 4/2: The Bug Out event is live and the full Field Research tasks and rewards have now been revealed.

On April 2, Pokemon GO players will be able to participate in the week-long Bug Out! event, which as the name suggests, increases the spawn of Bug-type Pokemon in a manner similar to the recent Spring Equinox event for Grass-types. It will also include other bonuses such as more Pokemon coming to an incense, with incense lasting twice as long, and new Field Research tasks.

These tasks will likely appear in conjunction with the April Field Research tasks, as it's worth highlighting that this event will only feature 5 Field Research tasks. This information comes from a reliable Pokemon GO leaker that goes by the handle Chrales, and it follows a similar pattern of previous week-long events where research isn't necessarily the focal point.

Because this information is available early as the result of a leak, the exact rewards have not been revealed. However, because of previous Pokemon GO events that were incredibly similar, players can expect 2-3 field encounter rewards, with the headlining Scyther likely being featured as one of these rewards. For those who have yet to evolve one into Scizor, this seems like the perfect opportunity.

Field Research Tasks

  • Catch X Bug-type Pokemon
  • Catch X+ Bug-type Pokemon
  • Catch X Ledyba or Spinarak
  • Catch X Wurmple
  • Evolve X Bug-type Pokemon

While these Field Research tasks are the standard array, depending on the rewards, this event has the potential to be incredibly popular. After all, although Bug-types are common enough, there are some serious Bug-type contenders many would want to catch such as Scyther, Yanma, Anorith, and Combee. This will likely even go a step further if Pokemon GO decides to add a new shiny Pokemon as a result, but it's worth mentioning that shiny Bug-types Caterpie, Pinsir, and Pineco are already in the mobile ARG.

Once this event ends, however, the festivities in Pokemon GO will not. This is because players will be able to partake in the Bagon Community Day shortly after this event ends, where players are expected to be able to find, catch, and evolve shiny Bagon, Shelgon, and Salamence in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO is out now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
