Unova Week in Pokemon GO has brought over more Pokemon from the Unova region to players in the real world. While there are still some Pokemon that are still missing from Pokemon GO, Bouffalant is one of the Pokemon that was implemented for the current week's event.
What makes Bouffalant unique is in how it has joined the ranks of Pokemon GO's region exclusive Pokemon. This means that Bouffalant can only be found in certain geographical locations around the world. This also means it will be very difficult for a lot of trainers to find one.
While some regional Pokemon span multiple countries, Bouffalant is only available in a small area located in the United States of America. It can additionally be hatched from 5 km eggs found in this area.
Bouffalant is a pure normal-type Pokemon with it not able to evolve into any other Pokemon. Additionally, no Pokemon can evolve into Bouffalant. Its typing makes it only weak to fighting-type moves, but it only resists ghost-type moves.
Players that want to capture this Pokemon will need to travel to the New York City area of the United States of America. However, players in other states such as Maryland and Massachusetts have reported seeing it spawn in their areas. This could mean that Bouffalant is set to spawn in the North Eastern area of the United States, not necessarily based on New York City.
The best moveset to have for Bouffalant is Zen Headbutt for its fast move and Skull Bash for its charge move, maximizing its damage per second in PVP battles. It additionally has the base stats of 195 attack, 182 defense, and 216 stamina.
Bouffalant can have the max CP of 2,797 making it decent for battle. However, traveling to the eastern end of the United States may be difficult or impossible for many. This is especially pressing during the current global pandemic where traveling is both risky and difficult. Due to the lack of remote trading in Pokemon GO, it will additionally be hard to give extra Bouffalant away to friends far away.
It could be possible for there to be an event in Pokemon GO focused on region-locked Pokemon in the future, but Bouffalant will have to join the others bound by location until such an event happens. It is also unknown if any other Pokemon from generation 5 will be region locked upon their release as well.
