Starting on Tuesday, May 26 Pokemon GO trainers are going to have an exciting new rotation of Legendary Raid Bosses to battle and add to their Pokedex. The iconic trio of draconic Legendaries from Pokemon Black and Pokemon White are on their way to the mobile AR game and the battles kick off with the spotlight on Reshiram, but Zekrom and Kyurem won't be far behind.

In order to secure the exciting new Pokedex entries, Pokemon GO trainers are going to have to figure out how to beat the draconic trio of bosses. Reshiram battles are already underway, but it's never too early to start planning ahead and getting a roster ready for one of the next incoming Tier 5 bosses. For this guide, we'll be concentrating on the best strategy to counter Zekrom. This Dragon-/Electric-type is super effective against a lot of different -types, so players will have to assemble a team that takes advantage of Zekrom's weaknesses.

Although the most skilled and powerful trainers could trio Zekrom with the right weather boosts and Friendship damage bonuses, it is recommended that players get a group of five or more high level trainers if they want to take this one down without any major struggles.

Zekrom is a Dragon- and Electric-type, which means that its primary weaknesses are going to be Dragon-, Ground-, and Fairy- and Ice-. A few of the best Zekrom counters have been popular choices for previous Raid Bosses, so hopefully players already have a fairly powerful team assembled. If not, be sure to take advantage of Elite TMs and lots of Candy and Stardust to power up a strong roster before entering this Legendary Raid Battle.

Best Zekrom Counters

Palkia - Dragon Tail/Draco Meteor

Zekrom - Dragon Breath/Outrage

Reshiram - Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor

Dialga - Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor

Rayquaza - Dragon Tail/Outrage

Great Zekrom Counters

Garchomp - Dragon Tail/Outrage

Shadow Dragonite - Dragon Tail/Dragon Claw

Shadow Salamence - Dragon Tail/Outrage

Assembling a powerful roster from those options will give trainers the easiest path to victory when this raid rolls around next week. There are some other, less powerful options that will do in a pinch as well, like Mamoswine, Shadow Weavile, and Exadrill. Those are all very powerful Pokemon and respectable options if you need to pivot to an alternative strategy to counter a Dragon-type fast or charge move.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
