Players in Pokemon GO are currently able to participate in and complete the Sneasel Limited Research tasks. These tasks are available until January 30 at 10:00 pm in players' local times and allow players to catch multiple Sneasel.

Sneasel is a dual Dark and Ice-type Pokemon that has been available in Pokemon GO for quite some time due to it being from the Johto region. It also has the ability to evolve into Weavile as of the Sinnoh update to the game, who shares the same typing as Sneasel.

In order to evolve a Sneasel into Weavile, players need 100 pieces of Sneasel candy as well as a Sinnoh Stone. Sneasel candy can be obtained much easier with the Sneasel Limited Research tasks with a Sinnoh Stone also being one of the prizes offered through these tasks.

Pokemon Weavile

Weavile being a dual Dark and Ice-type Pokemon is weak to Fighting, Fairy, Bug, Steel, Fire, and Rock-type moves in battle. It however also resists Ghost, Ice, Dark, and Psychic-type moves. Its best stat is its attack and it ranks among some of the better non-legendary Ice-type and Dark-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO's PVP meta.

Compared to some other Pokemon, Weavile doesn't have too many moves to choose from. This however makes using TMs to change Weavile's moveset into its best possible one much easier.

The best possible moveset for Weavile to have in both PVP and PVE battles has it knowing Snarl for its fast move and Avalanche for its charge move. This makes sure that players' Weavile have the most amount of DPS possible, helping the Pokemon do a lot before taking too much damage.

While this limited time event for Sneasel is ongoing, some players may find more encounters with a shiny Sneasel. Players can tell if a Sneasel is shiny during an encounter via its bright pink coloring instead of its normal dark fur. If players catch a shiny Sneasel it will keep this bright color palette after evolving into Weavile. This will not affect the Pokemon's stats or effectiveness in battle with shiny Pokemon just being different in appearance.

If players decide to use Weavile in battle, they will find it being very useful for Dragon-type Pokemon, Psychic-type Pokemon, and a variety of other Pokemon with weaknesses to Dark or Ice-type moves. With how many legendary Dragon-type Pokemon appear as raid bosses as well as Flying-type Pokemon, some trainers may want to have a Weavile on hand for some of the more difficult raids.
