Weather Week arrives in Pokemon GO today and trainers are in for another busy week. The Season of Legends isn't really giving players a chance to catch their breath between events as the increased spawns, features, and bonuses keep piling up. Once trainers finish powering through the Weather Week event-exclusive timed research, they'll be able to celebrate by revisiting Rayquaza Battle Raids during the final weekend of the month.

As the main Weather Week activities come to a close, Rayquaza will join Therian Forme Thundurus in Legendary Battle Raids for a short window from Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, March 28, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time. When this opportunity arrives, Pokemon GO trainers should be sure to have a powerful counter roster ready to take on the popular Dragon- and Flying-type.

With Rayquaza's Dragon- and Flying- combo, the Legendary Pokemon will be weak to Rock, Dragon, and Fairy type moves, but most importantly it will be extra weak to Ice-type moves. Although there will be some new tools to use thanks to Mega Evolutions and a few new Pokemon who have been released since Rayquaza's earlier appearances, trainers should focus on exploiting that Ice-type weakness for the best results during this battle raid...

Best Rayquaza Counters

Mega Abomasnow - Powder Snow/Weather Ball

Galarian Darmanitan - Ice Fang/Avalanche

Mamoswine - Powder Snow/Avalanche

Glaceon - Frost Breath/Avalance

Weavile - Ice Shard/Avalanche

Jynx - Frost Breath Avalanche

Beartic - Powder Snow/Ice Punch

Vanilluxe - Frost Breath/Blizzard

Kyurem - Dragon Breath/Blizzard

Trainers should always keep in mind that the list presented represents the best counters and move sets based on the current meta game. It's not the end of the world, or a recipe for defeat, if a player can't pull together a roster of that quality though. The main thing to keep in mind is that the selected roster should focus on using the best Ice-type Pokemon and move sets available.

Players who manage to team up with a decent group of other friends and avoid Rayquaza's resistances should be able to win the raid and move on to the encounter. Keep in mind that team and damage bonuses can help players secure additional Premium Pokeballs to use during the reward encounter though, so being a top damage dealer has its perks.

Over the next week or so players should continue to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
