Froakie is one of the starter Pokemon from Pokemon X & Y, but it's been welcomed to the cast of Pokemon GO since 2020. Capable of evolving into the Water/Dark-type Greninja, the Bubble Frog Pokemon is a must-have for many players.

Until players have gathered enough Candy, players might want to construct a solid moveset out of Froakie's Pokemon GO movelist. Like most, Pokemon GO gives some type-coverage that will come in handy during battles. Of course, trainers who do not have Froakie will want to obtain one first.

How to Get Froakie in Pokemon GO

pokemon card froakie frogadier

Froakie debuted in the Kalos Celebration Event back in December 2020 alongside many other Kalos Pokemon. The easiest way to get Froakie is by catching it in the wild. As a Water-type Pokemon, it appears more frequently near rivers or beaches. Try to look for Froakie on rainy days too, since Water-types will appear more frequently during stormy weather.

Another method of getting Froakie is to hatch it from 5km Eggs. These are a little more common than its 2km Eggs counterpart and can be found at Pokestops. Stick it in the Incubator and walk the desired amount to hatch the Egg. It should be noted that Pokemon Eggs will have randomized Pokemon, so it's not always guaranteed Froakie will hatch from a 5km Egg.

Finally, trainers can try catching Froakie in Raid Battles.

Between these three options, players will have more luck hunting for Froakie in the wild. Catching multiple Froakie will also give the player Candy, which Froakie needs a total of 125 if players want to evolve it into Frogadier and Greninja.

Froakie's Moves

A pure Water-type like Froakie has a weakness to Grass and Electric-types but has some resistance to Steel, Fire, Water, and Ice-types.

Here are Froakie's moves in Pokemon GO:

* Moves such as Bubble, Water Pulse, and Surf will all give Froakie STAB.

Surf is the strongest move out of Froakie's Charged Moves, having a 65 Damage and 45.9 DPS. On the downside, it has the lowest EPS, being at a -29.4.

These two movesets are the best offense movesets for Froakie. To achieve maximum STAB and DPS, the best combo is Bubble + Surf. However, the move Pound has less EPS, being at 10 EPS compared to Bubble's 11.7. Players should remember that as a normal-type move, Pound offers no STAB for Froakie and is useless against Ghost-type Pokemon.

Between the two movesets, Bubble + Surf has the highest DPS.

Both Bubble + Aerial Ace and Pound + Water Pulse are other options, but not as powerful/beneficial as the previously recommended movesets. The reason being is they don't use the move Surf, which has a DPS of 45.9. However, trainers looking to use moves with less EPS will want to try out these movesets.

With Defensive movesets, it's better to not use Pound as the Quick Move. Have Froakie make the most out of its STAB by having Bubble as its Quick Move and using another Water-type move for its Charged Move. The Bubble + Surf moveset also works well defensively, but players can substitute Surf for Water Pulse instead.
