Pokemon GO players will be seeing a lot more of Team GO Rocket with the Team GO Rocket Celebration Event being currently active in-game. With the event also comes the new and improved teams of Team GO Rocket's leaders.

One leader of Team GO Rocket that Pokemon GO players may encounter is Cliff. His Pokemon are all powerful, with some of them boasting a good variety of type coverage that can take down even well-prepared players. The first of his Pokemon that players will be going up against is Aerodactyl.

Aerodactyl is a dual Rock and Flying-type Pokemon, making it weak to Ice, Rock, Steel, Water, and Electric-type moves. It also resists Ground, Normal, Bug, Poison, Flying, and Fire-type moves.

Pokemon Aerodactyl

When going up against Aerodactyl, players are recommended to play with its weaknesses in mind. With Aerodactyl having many different weaknesses, there are many different Pokemon that can be used to make sure the fight goes by fast.

Since winter is on-going in the Northern Hemisphere, some players may find the weather bringing plenty of Ice-type Pokemon. Luckily, these Pokemon can be very helpful against this fossil Pokemon. The recommended Ice-type Pokemon are:

  • Mamoswine - Powder Snow and Avalanche
  • Mega Abomasnow - Powder Snow and Weather Ball (Ice)
  • Weavile - Ice Shard and Avalanche
  • Galarian Darmanitan - Ice Fang and Avalanche
  • Glaceon - Frost Breath and Avalanche

Rock-type Pokemon are sometimes relatively easy to find, but often need many candies in order to reach their final evolution. There are however quite a few that will be helpful against Aerodactyl. They are:

  • Tyranitar - Smack Down and Stone Edge
  • Rhyperior - Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
  • Rampardos - Smack Down and Rock Slide
  • Terrakion - Smack Down and Rock Slide
  • Aerodactyl - Rock Throw and Rock Slide

There are multiple powerful Steel-type Pokemon that players can obtain and use for this fight against Cliff. The ones that are most useful against Aerodactyl are:

  • Metagross- Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash
  • Dialga - Metal Claw and Iron Head
  • Genesect - Metal Claw and Magnet Bomb
  • Excadrill - Metal Claw and Iron Head
  • Bisharp - Metal Claw and Iron Head

Water-type Pokemon can be some of the most common Pokemon types for players to find depending on their location. Luckily there are many that can become incredibly powerful. The Water-types to bring against Aerodactyl are:

  • Mega Blastoise - Water Gun and Hydro Cannon
  • Swampert - Water Gun and Hydro Cannon
  • Kyogre - Waterfall and Hydro Pump
  • Gyarados - Waterfall and Hydro Pump
  • Kingler - Bubble and Crab Hammer

Finally, Electric-type Pokemon are more than capable of bringing Aerodactyl down before too much damage is taken from it. Some of the better Electric-types to bring along are:

  • Raikou - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
  • Electivire - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
  • Zapdos - Thunder Shock and Thunder Bolt
  • Zekrom - Charge Beam and Wild Charge
  • Magnezone - Spark and Wild Charge
