Pokemon GO fans have been closely monitoring the official social accounts today for news about a Gen 4 release, but apparently Niantic has other plans. Right around the time many players predicted a Gen 4 announcement would arrive today, the Pokemon GO accounts confirmed this month's Community Day exclusive move instead.

October's Community Day is Beldum-themed, which means players should be able to store up enough candy to evolve into the powerful Metang and Metagross. As always, players who evolve the Pokemon during the Community Day window can secure an exclusive move. This time around it is the Psychic-type ability Meteor Mash.

Here's a look at the official confirmation...

Meteor Mash was the popular guess heading into this month, so this isn't much of a surprise. The data-crunchers are likely already hard at work calculating what this ability means to the meta and should have some reports soon to explain how much stronger this makes a Metagross team for Battle Raids or Gym defense.

The October Community Day event takes place on October 21, so be sure to set that time aside if you want to get the move and maybe catch some shiny Beldums. Check back later this week for more news and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
