The various members of Team GO Rocket are still causing trouble in Pokemon GO with players able to put a stop to their criminal deeds. There is even more motivation to stop them at this time due to the newest series of timed research tasks requiring players to defeat one of Team GO Rocket's leaders.

Sierra is one of Pokemon GO's NPC trainers that serves as one of the leaders of Team GO Rocket. If players are working toward the Tricky Pokemon 2021 timed research tasks, she may be the one that players will need to defeat in order to earn a valuable Super Rocket Radar.

When fighting Sierra, she will always have Carvanha as her first party member, but her second and third Pokemon will be different in each encounter with her. Her second Pokemon has the possibility to be either Hippowdon, Porygon-Z, or Mismagius while her third Pokemon can be either Flygon, Houndoom, or Walrein.

First Party Member - Carvanha

As stated before, Sierra's first Pokemon that she will send out in battle will always be Carvanha. It is a dual Water and Dark-type Pokemon making it weak to Fairy, Bug, Electric, Grass, and Fighting-type moves while also resisting Ghost, Steel, Water, Ice, Dark, Fire, and Psychic-type moves.

Being Sierra's weakest Pokemon in her party, players shouldn't waste too much time on it. Those wanting to deal with it quickly are recommended to use:

Breloom - Counter and Seed Bomb

Sirfetch'd - Counter and Leaf Blade

Machamp - Karate Chop and Dynamic Punch

Electivire - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge

Raikou - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge

Unlike the grunts of Team GO Rocket, Sierra is fully willing to use protect shields if players use a charge move against her Pokemon. Like players, however, Sierra only has a maximum of two protect shields before they run out. Players can take advantage of this by using charge moves with fast charge rates on Carvanha at the beginning of the battle so that Sierra's later party members miss out on valuable defenses.

Possible Second Party Member - Hippowdon

The first possible Pokemon that Sierra can send out after Carvanha is Hippowdon. This Pokemon is a pure Ground-type, making it weak to Grass, Ice, and Water-type moves. It however also greatly resists damage from Rock, Poison, and Electric-type moves.

Sierra's Hippowdon can know a large variety of "Fang" fast moves of different types, so players should be careful to not get caught off guard and suddenly deal with a weakness themselves. Even so, some of the most recommended Pokemon for this battle are:

Kingler - Bubble and Crabhammer

Venusaur/Mega Venusaur - Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant

Blastoise/Mega Blastoise - Water Gun and Hydro Cannon

Torterra - Razor Leaf and Frenzy Plant

Kyogre - Waterfall and Surf

Possible Second Party Member - Porygon-Z

Another Pokemon that Sierra can use second is Porygon-Z, a pure Normal-type Pokemon. Its typing means that it is only weak to Fighting-type moves, but also only resists damage from Ghost-type moves.

With only Fighting-type moves as a weakness, strong Fighting-type Pokemon will be the way to go in the fight against Porygon-Z. Some of the best ones for this job are:

Machamp - Karate Chop and Dynamic Punch

Lucario - Counter and Aura Sphere

Breloom - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Conkeldurr - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Sirfetch'd - Counter and Close Combat

Possible Second Party Member - Mismagius

The last Pokemon that can be in Sierra's second party slot is Mismagius, a pure Ghost-type Pokemon. It is only weak to Dark and Ghost-type moves while greatly resisting damage from Bug, Poison, Fighting, and Normal-type moves. Mismagius additionally is the evolution of Misdreavus, which can be obtained by players in Pokemon GO via 100 Misdreavus candies and a Sinnoh Stone evolution item.

There are plenty of powerful Pokemon that can be used to make quick work of Sierra's Mismagius. Some of the best ones and their best movesets for this role are:

Darkrai - Snarl and Dark Pulse

Tyranitar - Bite and Crunch

Weavile - Snarl and Foul Play

Gengar/Mega Gengar - Shadow Ball and Shadow Claw

Chandelure - Hex and Shadow Ball

Possible Third Party Member - Houndoom

Moving on to the possible Pokemon that Sierra can use to finish out the battle with her third and final Pokemon, the first possible one is Houndoom. This Pokemon is a dual Dark and Fire-type Pokemon that is weak to Fighting, Ground, Rock, and Water-type moves. Houndoom meanwhile also resists Steel, Ghost, Grass, Ice, Dark, Fire, and Psychic-type moves.

Thankfully for players, Sierra's Houndoom cannot mega evolve into Mega Houndoom for the battle. Players however should still expect a bit of a challenge with her Houndoom and try and play against its weaknesses. Some of the best Pokemon to use against this Pokemon are:

Conkeldurr - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Kyogre - Waterfall and Surf

Rampardos - Smack Down and Rock Slide

Machamp - Karate Chop and Dynamic Punch

Lucario - Counter and Aura Sphere

Possible Third Party Member - Flygon

Pokemon Flygon

Flygon is yet another Pokemon that Sierra can have as her final party member in battle. It's a dual Ground and Dragon-type and the third stage of the Trapinch evolutionary line. This Pokemon's typing makes it weak to Ice, Fairy, and Dragon-type moves while also resisting the damage caused by Rock, Poison, Fire, and Electric-type moves.

Dealing with Flygon has plenty of potential to be a huge pain for unprepared players. The most highly recommended Pokemon to bring if players know to expect Flygon are:

Weavile - Ice Shard and Avalanche

Mamoswine - Powder Snow and Avalanche

Glaceon - Frost Breath and Avalanche

Jynx - Frost Breath and Avalanche

Vanilluxe - Frost Breath and Blizzard

Possible Third Party Member - Walrein

Finally, the last Pokemon that Sierra can have in her third party slot is Walrein. This Pokemon is a dual Ice and Water-type that is also the third stage of the Spheal evolutionary line. Its typing makes it weak to Fighting, Rock, Electric, and Grass-type moves while also only resisting damage from Water and Ice-type moves.

Out of all of the Pokemon that Sierra can use last, Walrein can be the easiest to deal with due to it only resisting two types of moves. Players still should give it their all to finish Sierra's party off so that they don't need to battle her again from the beginning. The most highly recommended Pokemon for the Walrein fight are:

Machamp - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Electivire - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge

Lucario - Counter and Aura Sphere

Conkeldurr - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Raikou - Volt Switch and Wild Charge
