Pokemon GO's Battle Showdown event has returned for 2019, and this year, it sees the spawns of Fighting-types increase in the wild, the addition of shiny Machop and Mankey models, and a myriad of other related bonuses. To help with this event, developer Niantic has seen fit to add some new event Field Research Tasks to those currently available at PokeStops.

It's worth mentioning that the general Field Research Tasks for March will appear in conjunction with this event, and completing a task from either set will still reward players with a Field Research Breakthrough which includes the legendary dog and the legendary titan trios. There are also two general Pokemon GO tasks which will be beneficial for those working on this event, as these general tasks still reward players with either a Machop or a Mankey.

These new Pokemon GO Field Research tasks include all of the following:

Research Task (Reward)

  • Catch 3 Makuhita or Meditite (Combusken)
  • Catch 5 Fighting-type Pokemon (Machoke)
  • Make 2 Excellent Throws in a Row (Hitmonchan)
  • Win 3 Raids (Fast TM)
  • Use a Supereffective Charged Attack in 7 Raids or Gym Battles (Charge TM)
  • Battle in a Gym (Machop or Mankey) (Standard March Field Research Task)
  • Battle in a Gym 5 Times (Machop) (Standard March Field Research Task)

Completing any of the above challenges, including the two available for the whole month of March, will do much to help gather stardust and candies as part of this Pokemon GO event. Those interested will want to get on the ball, however, as the Battle Showdown 2019 event ends at 1 PM PST on March 12.

Beyond the Battle Showdown 2019 event, there's plenty to keep players busy in the month of March. Treecko Community Day will take place on March 23, and the gen 4 legendary Dragon/Steel-type Dialga will be appearing in raids through March 28. It's worth highlighting that Dialga is weak to Fighting-types, so players may want to use this event to prepare a team for the mighty Time-themed Pokemon.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
