Pokemon GO developer Niantic has already made several big announcements about the game this week as more Gen 3 Pokemon are on the way and the new dynamic weather system is also releasing soon. But these aren't the only things that Niantic is working on, as the developer has just revealed another significant gameplay feature.

In a developer insights blog post, Niantic describes a new Pokemon GO feature which it calls 'Battle Parties.' According to the official description for the feature, Battle Parties will allow players to "create and name teams of up to six Pokémon in their Pokémon collection for quick access when participating in Gym battles and Raid Battles." Niantic further explains that these are "preset teams of up to six Pokémon that you are able to create and customize to fit your needs."

Niantic hopes that this will make it easier for Pokemon GO players to take part in Raids and Gym battles by allowing players to select their optimal Pokemon team much quicker than usual. The Pokemon GO developer also points to the bonuses offered by the dynamic weather system. With specific Pokemon types becoming more powerful in certain weather conditions (e.g Fire-types are stronger when it's sunny), it makes sense to have a team ready depending on what Mother Nature is doing that day.

Pokemon GO Star Piece item update leak

It should be noted that the initial launch of Pokemon GO Battle Parties will just be a beta. This means that there will be some limitations on how Battle Parties information is stored. In beta form, Battle Parties teams will be saved to a player's device, so switching devices (or using multiple devices to play) will require players to create those teams again. Thankfully, once Battle Parties launches in full, this data will carry over between devices.

Although the beta restrictions are a little frustrating for those who use multiple devices to play the game, for the most part, the Battle Parties feature is being welcomed. Between Gym battles, EX Raid battles, and the weather system, there are more reasons than ever to have specialized teams ready to go on a moment's notice.

Battle Parties is also just the latest 'quality of life' change to Pokemon GO over the last few months. For example, the game also improved the search function, letting players sort their roster more easily. As the game continues to expand, fans will be looking to Niantic to release even more of these helpful features so that playing Pokemon GO does not become a (more) complex affair.
