Pokemon GO's Water Festival is back, and this time Niantic is celebrating the Water Festival with an extra bonus for players around the world. The legendary trio of psychic Pokemon, Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie will return to their respective regions on August 28; however, these Raid Battles will only be available for a limited time. From 6-7pm local time, the legendary lake trio will be available as raid bosses which mean players will only have one hour to catch these Pokemon.
Similar to their previous appearance in Pokemon GO, each legendary will only be available in its respective region.
Americas and Greenland: Azelf
Europe, Africa, and the Middle East: Mesprit
Asia, Australia, and New Zealand: Uxie
Similar to other Legendaries, the trio will have a high CP, so players will have to team-up in order to defeat the Legendary Raid Bosses. Once the legendary Pokemon is defeated, each participant will receive a bunch of Premier Balls and a chance to catch the Pokemon. All three of these Legendary Pokemon are pure Psychic types, so players will need a Dark, Ghost, or Bug-type Pokemon to gain an advantage as Psychic-types are weak to these three types. Pokemon like Tyranitar, Houndoom, Scizor, or Mightyena will be great as each of these Pokemon can deal super-effective damage to the Legendaries.
Even though the Legendary trio looks similar in appearance, each Legendary boasts different stats and abilities. Azelf has higher damage output, but weaker defense; Uxie has higher defense, but it deals lower damage; and Mesprit is overall balanced.
Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie will only be available for a limited time, and if a player misses the chance to catch them, then the trio will be gone until Niantic announces another event. However, players will be able to take advantage of other Water Festival bonuses until August 30. Water-type Pokemon like Wailmer, Poliwhirl, Feebas, Magikarp, and many others have higher chances of spawning in the wild throughout the event.
Finally, Shiny Barboach and Carvanha are also appearing throughout the event, and most eggs will also have a higher chance of hatching a Water-type Pokemon. Apart from the event, players can also grab Mythical Jirachi through a new Special Research questline.
