A new month is right around the corner and that means it's time for the usual drop of teasers about upcoming Pokemon GO content. In addition to the August 2021 calendar of events, Niantic is also revealing the mobile AR game's upcoming Research Breakthrough Reward a bit early. That means players can start planning ahead now and decide how impact the daily stamp grind will be to them over the next four or five weeks.

The new month will trigger a new Research Breakthrough opportunity as usual. That means that players are running out of days to claim July's Research Breakthrough, so be sure to do that one more time if desired. When August arrives, the Pokemon GO research rotation will once again bring another non-Legendary Pokemon encounter to the spotlight with Chimecho.

Players who long for the old days of guaranteed Legendary encounters from Research Breakthroughs aren't going to get their wish when next month arrives. For now, Niantic is sticking with the newer formula of highlighting a regular Pokemon and offering double XP thanks to the Season of Discovery...

August Research Breakthrough encounters

From Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. to Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7), you’ll encounter Chimecho in Research Breakthrough encounters.

Double XP for Research Breakthroughs will also continue throughout this month as part of the Season of Discovery!

Weekly 1 PokéCoin bundles

Every Monday in August, a one-time purchase bundle containing a Remote Raid Pass and other items will be available in the shop.

PoGO players should keep an eye out for a significant rotation of the available daily tasks in the game once August 1 arrives, so be sure to keep an eye out for the new list early next month. Trainers can grab tasks by heading out and visiting Pokestops around their community right now to finish out their final July Breakthrough or build up some stamps for an early start towards August's first reward.

To claim a Research Breakthrough encounter trainers need to earn stamps by completing seven regular tasks in the mobile AR game. Only one stamp can be earned per day and players do need need to keep up a daily streak, though obviously earning a stamp a day leads to the most Research Breakthroughs possible in any given month. Keep in mind that trainers are able to store up some Stamps if they wish to avoid a late July Breakthrough Reward, so it's actually possible to head into August with seven stamps ready to cash in if any trainers want the Chimecho encounter as soon as it's available on August 1.

Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
