Pokemon GO's EX Raids don't rotate bosses very frequently, so when they do, it's an exciting event for the invite only Battle Raids. Thanks to Deoxys having multiple forms, this second EX Raid Boss is having a rotation much faster than Mewtwo did. Starting on December 20, Attack Form Deoxys will take over the spotlight.

Attack Form Deoxys is likely a more exciting catch for many Pokemon GO players than Normal form Deoxys and should help bring back EX Raid popularity for a little bit. Before heading into those big battles, trainers will want to be sure to prepare a powerful battle party with the right counters.

Attack Form Deoxys is still a Psychic-type, which makes it weak against Bug-, Dark-, and Ghost-types. On the other side of the coin, this Raid Boss will be strong against Psychic- and Fighting-types.

Considering those strengths and weaknesses, these are the Pokemon we recommend taking into battle:

Tyranitar – Bite and Crunch

Mewtwo – Psycho Cut and Shadowball

Gengar – Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball

Weavile - Feint Attack and Foul Play

Honchkrow - Snarl and Dark Pulse

Absol - Snarl and Dark Pulse

Players who need to go a little deeper into the roster to put together a team can also consider Pinsir and Houndoom.

Aside from Mewtwo, the best counters to Deoxys are all pretty popular Raid party choices anyway. That means many trainers already have high IV and powered up versions of them, so the Raid shouldn’t be a ton of trouble for any decent groups.

That’s all there is to it. Now assemble your strongest team and get out there and secure an EX Invite (that’s the hard part, right?). Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
