Pokemon GO trainers are having a very busy fall, which makes heading out into the cold weather to play a little more bearable. In addition to holiday events and surviving another Team GO Rocket invasion, there are a new trio of Legendary Pokemon making their way into the meta game. Now that three Swords of Justice Pokemon are arriving, it's time to consider how they stand up in the current metagame.
Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion each have their own type and one of the trio stands out in the crowd and is likely to get the most play in both Pokemon GO Raids and Gym defense. Dedicated trainers will obviously want to collect all three to work towards their growing global dex completion, but unfortunately not all Legendaries are created equal.
First, let's start by taking a closer look at Terrakion, who is the clear all-star of the group. Equipped with the Smack Down/Rock Slide moveset, Terrakion quickly climbs the ranks of Rock-type attackers. That moveset, combined with its stats, places Terrakion as the second best Rock-type Pokemon in the game, just behind Rampardos.
Unfortunately, there's a big drop in quality when looking at the other two new Swords of Justice Pokemon who are available. Cobalion walks away with the opportunity to equip the double Steel-type moves Metal Claw and Iron Head, but that's not quite enough to make it a heavy hitter. Cobalion ranks just below Aggron in the Steel-type meta and isn't even on the chart when it comes to Fighting-types.
Last, and possibly least in this case, is Virizion. Unfortunately, Virizion doesn't get a Grass- or Fighting-type quick move. It does have Leaf Blade as a charge move, which will be helpful in trainer battles, but that isn't going to be quite enough to get the job done in Battle Raids. Players will likely want to keep this one out of their battle roster lineups.
For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal.
