Ninantic announced that Altered Forme Giratina is coming back to Pokemon Go tier five raids. The legendary ghost and dragon type hybrid is one of the most powerful Pokemon in the game right now.

Pokemon Go, Niantic's AR mobile hit, just wrapped up raids that featured the legendary psychic Mewtwo. In fact, the Mewtwo Legendary Raid Hour that was originally proposed has now been delayed until October 8. Until then, Pokemon Go players have a chance for a shiny Altered Forme Giratina.

Starting on September 23 at 4 p.m. EST and running all the way until Oct. 17 at 4 p.m, Pokemon Go trainers can catch Altered Forme Giratina in the game's legendary tier five raids. Giratina's raid boss form was first seen back in March raids. Its debut was followed by the even stronger Origin Forme, which was the raid boss throughout April 2019. There is a strong possibility that Origin Forme Giratina will be making another appearance once this raid is over in late October, but at the time nothing is confirmed.

For players who are confused as to the origin of this legendary, Giratina is the mascot Pokemon of Pokemon Platinum and is a key player in the story of the Gen IV games. It is among the strongest dragon Pokemon in the history of the franchise, second only to Mega Rayquaza. This carries over into Pokemon Go, where Origin Forme Giratina is also the strongest Ghost type currently in the game.

It's important to note that while the Altered Forme Giratina will be the star of the raids for the next month, there is one exception and that is the rescheduled Legendary Raid Hour. On October 8 from 6 PM to 7 PM EST, Mewtwo will return as a limited time tier six boss that will require up to four trainers to tackle. For now, there are plenty of opportunities to score some shiny Pokemon in both the raids and the Safari zone event, which continues until the end of today.

Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS.
