Without a doubt, one of the biggest changes to Pokemon GO recently was the introduction of Alolan Pokemon via special 7km eggs. Not only was it well-received, but the dip into the alternative forms first offered in the latest generation of games added some variety to hatching eggs in the mobile ARG. With the addition of two more Alolan pokemon to the egg roster about a week ago, the changes to these special eggs have now been documented.

First off, to the relief of many, it's worth highlighting that Alolan Rattata has been effectively removed from the roster. While this is not certified via Pokemon GO developer Niantic, the Silph Road did not hatch a single Alolan Rattata in its research field of 450 freshly hatched eggs. This change is likely to balance the aforementioned introduction of Alolan Diglett and Alolan Geodude.

However, that's not the only exciting change, as Alolan Grimer and even Alolan Vulpix are now easier to get. Grimer has stepped down from the rare tier of eggs to the uncommon, and Vulpix has stepped down from the hyper-rare tier to the ultra-rare tier. In other words, Vulpix has went from a 1-in-29 chance to a 1-in-21 chance, and though this is still difficult, it could make a world of difference. Check out the new hatching percentages below:

Notably, it seems players have an equal chance of getting everything but Alolan Vulpix, yet of course, players who covet the ultra-rare ice-type pokemon should try their chances now because it is easier to hatch than before. At some point, it's possible that Alolan Rattata returns, but for now, there are other ways to get Alolan Pokemon. For example, Alolan Raichu and Alolan Marowak are catchable via raids.

Though this is exciting news, it's not the only exciting Pokemon GO news, as a recent rumor has suggested that a Gen 4 introduction and evolution event could be taking place very soon. Until then, trainers, good luck with those Alolan Vulpixes!

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
