When Pokemon GO first added an Alolan Pokemon - Alolan Exeggutor - to the game, fans were easily excited about the addition of Generation 7 alternative forms. While many have been waiting for the next variants to come, its good to know that it's likely to be very soon, as a recent datamine has uncovered all Alolan variant sprites in the next update.

For those unaware, the seventh generation Pokemon games, Sun and Moon, introduced these variants as tropical versions of the standard Pokemon form. Though they are seventh generation forms, Pokemon GO has slowly been adding these forms to the game, with rumors of Alolan Geodude and Alolan Diglett coming soon.

However, that list is much more extensive, as alongside the aforementioned, Graveler, Golem, Dugtrio, Grimer, Muk, Rattata, Raticate, Raichu, Marowak, Meowth, Persian, Vulpix, Ninetales, Sandshrew, and Sandslash each have an Alolan form. Moreover, in cases such as Exeggutor and Sandshrew, these forms can take on new types, as Exeggutor becomes Grass/Dragon and Sandshrew becomes Ice. Check out their in-game sprites below:

alolan sprites and shinies for pokemon go

As seen above, not only will the Alolan sprites be added to the game, but shiny forms of the Alolan variant as well. It has already been revealed that Pokemon GO intended to add more shiny forms to the game this summer, so it remains to be seen if and when the above shiny Alolan forms will be catchable.

Nevertheless, this latest Pokemon GO update is set to roll out soon, and while we know that these sprites are coming to the game, it could be event-based or utilized later this summer. In the meantime, Pokemon GO players may be looking forward to the next Community Day event, which is heavily rumored to feature Squirtle. Alongside these sprites, Hydro Cannon is also in the update, so that seems much more likely now.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
