As expected, Niantic is finally ready to kick off Adventure Week 2018 in Pokemon GO. The latest event to hit the mobile AR game puts a focus on Rock-type monsters and exploration. Trainers who want to get the most out of the limited time event should get ready to start playing this afternoon.

The Pokemon GO Adventure Week event kicks off today, May 24 at 1:00 P.M. PDT and runs through June 5. During this time, players will have all kinds of bonuses to take advantage of; including increased spawns, special Battle Raid bosses, extra XP, and 4x faster Buddy Pokemon candy.

Here are the official details from the Pokemon GO press release...

"Adventurous new research is on tap during an exciting in-game celebration! Starting on May 24 at 1:00 P.M. PDT, unique Field Research will be available with some exciting rewards, including a Raid Battle appearance by Pokémon such as Aerodactyl.

Throughout the celebration, Rock-type Pokémon such as Geodude, Lileep, and Nosepass will appear more frequently in the wild. There are also incentives to trek around: your Buddy Pokémon will earn Candy 4× faster throughout the event! Plus, you’ll receive extra XP for spinning the Photo Discs at PokéStops or Gyms—up to 10 times the usual amount if this is your first time encountering a unique PokéStop or Gym!"

For players who haven't earned a Gold Rock- badge yet, this event will be the perfectly opportunity to wrap up that achievement. The event will also be particularly helpful for players who are trying to earn buddy candy to evolve a particular pokemon, thanks to the 4x speed bonus.

Players can also expect to find some new and exciting Field Research that focuses on catching the special Rock-type spawns or maybe visiting unique Pokestops. Once more information about these special quests is released, we'll be sure to post some updates and guides.

Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
