September is here, which means that Pokemon GO players have a new batch Field Research tasks to start tackling and a new Breakthrough Reward to earn. In addition to the new tasks and the chance at Entei encounters, it seems Niantic is also kicking off September with the addition of  another fire-themed shiny.

Pokemon GO players are likely already out this weekend trying to hunt down shiny spawns of Wingull, but it seems that isn't the only new shiny appearing in the world. Players around the world have also started reporting that shiny Growlithe is also now a possibility.

Here's some screenshot proof of the new shiny, courtesy of The Silph Road community...

Although Growlithe's shiny variation isn't quite as dramatic or exciting as some of the others, completionists will likely still want to hunt down a shiny copy of the 'mon for their collections. Growlithe doesn't seem to have an increased spawn rate at this point, so the shiny is going to be extra rare for the time being.

Check back in the coming weeks to see what other events and surprises Pokemon GO has in store for fans of the mobile AR experience this month. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
