As coronavirus cases continue to appear around the globe and more cities and countries implement lockdowns and social distancing rules, Pokemon GO is trying to find a way to make the mobile AR game playable without requiring group gatherings in the real world. The game is entirely built around heading out and meeting up with other players in public places like parks and cities, so some major adjustments have to be made to keep players engaged over the coming months.

Niantic had already postponed all of Pokemon GO's upcoming in-person March and April events, in addition to making some changes to in-game bonuses and spawns, but apparently that wasn't quite enough to achieve the kind of results the company was hoping for. This week, Niantic is rolling out even more bonuses to keep players engaged while they are stuck at home.

Until the world returns to some form of normal, Niantic is prepared to offer players a lot of motivation to login from home and use some incense to catch at least a handful of Pokemon everyday. The latest changes being rolled out offer some valuable Stardust bonuses, in addition to a rotation 1 coin bundle in the Shop that should help players store up essential items for at-home play...

Additional Bonuses and Gameplay Changes

The following changes have been made to Pokemon GO until further notice.

3× Stardust and XP for your first Pokemon catch of the day: Be sure to activate a Star Piece and Lucky Egg to maximize your rewards.

Changes to Gifts: The number of Gifts you can open daily will now increase to 30, and the number of Gifts you can carry in your inventory will increase to 20. Gifts will also contain more Poké Balls. We appreciate your patience as we continue to prioritize updates that make gameplay more accessible and enjoyable at this time.

Rotating 1 PokéCoin bundles in the shop! New 1 PokéCoin bundles will be available in the shop each week as one-time purchases. The contents of these bundles change weekly, so be sure to get what is available each week. Right now, a new 1 PokéCoin bundle is available for you that contains the following.

Poké Balls × 100

You can access the above bundle (along with the one-time-purchase bundle of 30 Incense for 1 PokéCoin that was already available) from now until Monday, March 30, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).

The Incense and Poké Ball bundles will both be removed at that time, and a new 1 PokéCoin bundle will be available.

Event Changes

The following events have been canceled, postponed, or changed.

Lugia Raid Week: This event has been canceled.

Raid Hour: This event has been canceled.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
