Pokemon GO's big Community Day weekend just wrapped up and now trainers are preparing for whatever is next in the mobile AR game. A new update is just around the corner, which will likely bring the recently announced new AR features, but the code apparently also contains some hints about other exciting additions to the popular game.

As always, the Chrales twitter account is sharing details after the latest code teardown. The big news from the account's latest tweetstorm is all about a new item called the Team Medallion. According to the datamine, the item is going to offer players the chance to change teams. This may sound like it could cause some serious problems, but Niantic seems to be keeping that under control by making it so that the item can only be purchased once every 365 days.

This is a feature that has been requested for a long time, so it's great to see Niantic finally delivering on it. The majority of veteran players selected a team long before they knew how the decision would impact the rest of the gameplay, so it makes sense to give players a chance to reconsider now that the Gym and Raid systems are more robust and the local metagame has evolved.

Some players may be concerned that every player will move to the most popular team in their current city, but only time will tell if those concerns are valid. That does end up being the case, it will be interesting to see how the local metagame shifts in terms of Gym control rotation and Battle Raid composition.

Be sure to check back for more Pokemon GO news, guides, and updates in the coming days. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
