Thanks to the Hoenn Celebration eventPokemon GO trainers have once again had the opportunity to add the legendary Pokemon Kyogre and Groudon to their collection. However, the reign of Kyogre and Groudon is soon set to come to an end, as those two legendary Pokemon will be replaced by the water- and dragon-type Gen 4 Pokemon Palkia beginning January 29 at 1:00pm PST.

Palkia will be available in Pokemon GO legendary raids from January 29 at 1:00pm PST until February 28 at 1:00pm PST. This means that Pokemon GO players can add Palkia to their collection as early as tomorrow, which should help them better fill out their Gen 4 Pokedex.

Of course, even with Palkia added to the mix, there's still plenty of missing Gen 4 Pokemon. Niantic has been slower with introducing new Gen 4 Pokemon, adding just a handful of the creatures to the game at a time. While some fans may dislike this approach, on the bright side, it has made it so there is a regular stream of new content for the popular mobile game as opposed to long content droughts.

Pokemon GO fans can look forward to more Gen 4 Pokemon being added to the game in the coming weeks. It's likely that Palkia's counterpart, Dialga, will be added to Pokemon GO's legendary raid battles once Palkia departs on February 28. There are some other Gen 4 legendary Pokemon that have yet to come to the game as well, but since Palkia and Dialga were the starring Pokemon in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, it makes sense for Dialga to be next in line.

Of course, it's possible Niantic will swerve fans and host another event that will shake up the legendary raids quite a bit. We saw that already with the Hoenn Celebration that added Kyogre and Groudon - including shiny Groudon - back to legendary raids. Anything is possible, but Pokemon GO fans will just have to stay tuned to find out more.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
