When it was first announced, Pokemon GO trainers when nuts at the idea of Abra Community Day. The popular Gen 1 creature has one of the rarest and most coveted shiny versions in the mobile AR game, so the average player was very excited at the possibility of adding that to their collections. Unfortunately, the event had to be postponed due to coronavirus considerations.

Finally, it seems like Niantic is almost ready to announce a new date for Pokemon GO's Abra Community Day according to information in the latest datamine. A prior datamine suggested the Community Day special research was back on and now even more code has been added to hint at the Pokemon GO event's return.

The biggest piece of news in the datamine is definitely the addition of Counter as the exclusive move for the day. This is a pretty powerful Fighting-move and should give Abra some interesting opportunities in the upcoming metagame once players are able to catch and power up some high IV spawns with the powerful moveset.

Other Interesting Lines of Code

“Evolve Kadabra to Alakazam that know the Fast Attack Counter”

“Elite Fast TM available in the Community Day Box”

“Elite Charged TM available in the Community Day Box”

“Ticket for Investigating Illusions Special Research story in the shop”

Hopefully the event takes place on Saturday, April 25 as the data is suggesting, but that is still up in the air. It seems like Niantic will likely make an announcement about the Community Day plans in the near future. It will be interesting to hear the solution to an indoor only Community Day and whether Niantic might extend the hours of the event to give players more opportunity to encounter an exciting number of Abra spawns and secure all their shiny variants and high IV spawns for battles. Be sure to check back for official updates in the coming weeks.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
