Pokemon collectibles aren't always inexpensive, and the plushes released for the series are no different. However, a pair of Gigantamax plush toys releasing in Japan are likely some of the most expensive plushes produced for Pokemon, ever.

Pokemon Sword and Shield introduced Gigantamax Pokemon, who not only expand to a gigantic size but have unique appearances, as well. Gigantamax Pikachu more closely resembles his original, chubbier design, that goes back to Pokemon Red and Blue's original release, while Gigantamax Meowth stretches to the sky like a longcat meme.

These two Pokemon are the subject of two new plushes that are slated to release in Japan in October of 2020. They're made exclusively to-order, and fans who are interested will need to place an order by May 31st. However, there's currently no information about a release outside of Japan. What may truly shock fans, however, is the price tag for these jumbo Pokemon: Gigantamax Pikachu is selling for $412 USD, while Gigantamax Meowth is up for sale at $309.

Though the prices are likely shocking to many, these aren't ordinary plushes. As they're based on Gigantamax Pokemon, the plush toys themselves are, well, gigantic. Pikachu measures at 31 inches tall, weighing nearly 10 pounds, while Meowth is a genuinely stunning 5'5" tall. Though the prices are intense, eager Pokemon fans may yet be willing to pay that price to own a limited-edition and truly massive Pokemon plush.

As previously noted, Pokemon plushes haven't always been cheap. While there have surely been countless Pokemon plush toys released for affordable prices, collaborations with Build-a-Bear, in particular, have become rather pricey after taking all accessories and outfits into account. But then, hardcore fans of the Pokemon series may have become accustomed to ridiculous prices at this point.

An extremely rare Pokemon card recently sold at auction for just shy of $200,000 USD, while an official collaboration with watchmakers RJ-Romain Jerome saw a Pokemon watch selling for $285,000. Pokemon has also seen pricey attire set on sale, with custom Pokemon shirts and designer collaborations launching fairly regularly for the series.

Catching 'em all isn't always cheap, but mega-fans of Pikachu and Meowth may be willing to pay up for the opportunity. It remains to be seen if other Gigantamax Pokemon will get a similar mega-plush treatment.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
