There are a lot of artists out there that use unconventional mediums for their work, and what they create is all the more impressive because it's unexpected. The work of Runa (@RunaPocket), a self-proclaimed latte artist who makes delightful designs on the foamy surface of beany brews. Recently, she posted a picture of one of her latest creations featuring a Ghost/Poison-type from the Pokemon series.

After pouring the latte base, she formed and shaped the Gen-I Pokemon Gengar leaping out of the mug. Afterward, she painted on additional details, like the face. Because it's made of foam, it's a stark white color instead of the standard purple. Runa has become quite popular on the internet for her creations, and her latte art mainly focuses on video games and anime. Her collection of work contains plenty of other Pokemon as well.

Gengar is one of the original Pokemon, which makes him one of the most recognizable among the ever-growing catalog. This is why it's no surprise to see it featured on artwork or other homages to the series. A Reddit user recently shared a custom Gengar Game Boy Color they created that celebrates the Pokemon in a fantastic way. The Game Boy Color is repainted in a sparkly purple, features a Gengar sprite on the front, and the device is even renamed Ghost Boy Color in the appropriate font.

There's a chance Gengar fans might see it featured in the upcoming Netflix live-action Pokemon TV series that is reported to be in the works. According to sources, the show has brought on Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson to write and produce the project. Outside of these tiny nuggets of information, there are no further details on the series at this time. The creation of this project was surely in response to the popularity of the live-action movie, Detective Pikachu. Whether it will share its aesthetics and comedic style remains to be seen.

The film took a very different approach than its animated counterparts, which still consists of a long-running television series that is more geared towards a younger audience. Netflix will likely attempt to try to appeal to both young and older audiences, but that's where things can get complicated. There are some things the live-action Pokemon series needs to do to be successful, like nailing key trademarks of Pokemon while still keeping things fresh. It won't be easy, but fans are excited to see how things turn out.

There are plenty of talented Pokemon artists continuing to showcase their talents and support for the series, who may soon be inspired by the upcoming show. They may even begin taking it upon themselves to imagine how to series may look before it releases. Once the Netflix series does release, however, it might be nice to settle in and watch it with one of those piping hot Gengar lattes.
