A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan created a fusion between Flygon and Slither Wing. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have recently been in the news for Tera Raids, with players gearing up for the events. Meanwhile, one of the aspects that have been most successful with the players is the Paradox Pokemon.

The Paradox Pokemon form a select group of 16 Pokemon and are divided into past and future. One of these Paradox Pokemon is Slither Wing, a Bug/Fighting-type that functions as a kind of prehistoric form of Volcarona. Flygon, on the other hand, is not one of the strongest Dragon-type in competitive Pokemon, yet it is not exactly forgotten by fans. This Ground/Dragon-type was introduced in Gen 3 and is the final form of the cute little Trapinch.

User Macksi_ posted on Reddit a fan art that combines Flygon and Slither Wing and brings to life the Past Paradox Pokemon named Spliced Gene. Slither Wing already has a curious history, besides being along with Donphan and Cyclizar the only Pokemon with two paradox forms. In this fan art, Spliced Gene retains several of Slither Wing's characteristics, such as the orange leaf-like wings, the smoky white body, the horn-like structure, and the compound eyes. Its body, on the other hand, has the slightly insectoid form of a Flygon, with the same style of hands, feet, and tail (although these also have the Slither Wing design).

Macksi_ also offered some context details for their fan art. According to the user, Spliced Gene is the result of a fusion between a portion of fossilized DNA and modern Flygon genes. The Pokemon was given the Bug/Dragon-type, which makes the fan art even more intriguing for one detail: in Pokemon games, the Bug-type is the only one that has never been paired with Dragon. The concept of Paradox Pokemon in general has been well received by the community, which has created numerous fan arts with different contexts. Some end up being quite dark, like Past Paradox Mawile's fan art.

Paradox Pokemon being too uniform is an "accusation" that can be made by players, but the same has not been true of the fan art produced by Pokemon fans. The community has brought to life some pretty creative ideas not only for lore details but when it comes to crafting the design of their Pokemon. Spliced Gene is a good example of how this happens in practice. The Pokemon brings the base visual elements of Slither Wing, while the user makes a clever combination with Flygon's body design.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
