To say that there has been an abundance of Pokemon artwork created by fans over the years would be a huge understatement. Since the formation of the highly popularly Pokemon series back in the 1990s, passionate gamers have been showing off their love for the series by making some memorable creations. For example, one fan recently started making a unique collection of sculptures based on some of the iconic Pokemon in the series.

Taking to Reddit, a user known as lezgobobbie revealed an ambitious project they had recently begun working on. According to the Reddit user, they were attempting to sculpt each of the original 151 Pokemon from the Gen 1 Pokedex. However, they wanted to put a unique spin on the artwork by giving each of the pocket monsters a pair of googly eyes. In addition to revealing the project, they also shared several pictures on Reddit detailing the work they had already accomplished.

In one of the images, lezgobobbie revealed a group of clay sculptures representing the Pokemon in the evolution lines of Charmander and Squirtle. Impressively, the artist managed to replicate many of the iconic design features of Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise. In addition to these evolution lines, lezgobobbie shared another post that featured googly-eyed versions of Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur.

Beyond showcasing the artwork on Reddit, lezgobobbie discussed more details about the ambitious project in the comments section. In order to make each of the sculptures, they used polymer clay along with acrylic paint. According to the Reddit user, they had managed to complete nine clay models of the Pokemon, leaving them with 142 more to go. In addition, they revealed that they planned to post new clay models once a day until the entire project was complete.

Since posting these original Pokemon sculptures on Reddit, numerous members of the Pokemon community have taken notice of the designs. With over 7,000 upvotes between the two posts, many liked the comedic tone of the clay models. Unsurprisingly, a lot of comments were centered on lezgobobbie’s decision to use googly eyes for their creations. Specifically, one user thought that Ivysaur’s eyes reminded them of Garfield. Furthermore, some thought the designs were reminiscent of Robot Chicken. “Feels like a Robot Chicken x Pokemon collaboration,” CaptainColdBeer said on Reddit.

It will be interesting to see what the creator comes up with next. If they intend to finish the project, fans will likely see even more clay models designed by lezgobobbie in the coming days. Hopefully, they can stick with it so that fans of the artwork can see even more of their favorite Pokemon in the franchise reimagined with googly eyes.
