A talented Pokemon fan has hand-painted a portrait of Mimikyu on an abnormally small canvas and is receiving virtually universal positive reception. It's no secret that the Pokemon fandom is filled with plenty of artistically talented people, with many of them creating works of more popularized fully-evolved or Legendary Pokemon. However, Mimikyu does have its fair share of staunch supporters, as can be seen by the minuscule painting.

Introduced as part of the seventh generation, Mimikyu is a dual-type Ghost/Fairy Pokemon whose entire design is to attempt to mimic the appearance of Pikachu, with varying degrees of success. With multiple Pokedex entries stating that anyone who sees Mimikyu's true form will meet their demise, the creepy ragdoll-looking creature is one of the scariest Ghost Pokemon of all time.

The micro Mimikyu painting comes from Reddit user u/_eamar, who posted a photo of their work to one of the site's main Pokemon subreddits. Done on a canvas that measures only 2.75 by 2.75 inches, the artwork looks virtually flawless, almost looking like a printed copy. Set against a black background, viewers will see Mimikyu in all their glory, complete with accurate detail. Every aspect looks the same as the out-of-focus reference image on the laptop behind -- the coloring, line work, shading, and all -- with a thin white border around the Pokemon to make the portrait really pop.

The most impressive aspect is certainly getting all of that precision on such a small canvas, something that other fans also realize. Garnering well over 300 upvotes within half a day of posting, comments on the Mimikyu portrait painting are completely positive, with some stating the piece looks like official merchandise. While the artwork quite literally paints Mimikyu in a fairly benign light, other fans have really leaned into the Pokemon's creepy nature. Another fan recently made a horror-themed Mimikyu art piece, which shows the creature in a much more macabre scenario.

While some fans like to go micro-scale for their Pokemon paintings, as can be seen above, other fans sometimes can go big. Another fan made headlines a few months ago for generously painting a Pokemon mural to surprise their nephew. Taking up two entire bedroom walls, the massive mural includes Alolan forms of Exeggutor and Dugtrio, along with classics like Pikachu, Zubat, and Ditto all set on a landscape. Whether big or small, Pokemon fans sure do know how to make some share-worthy paintings.

The positive reception to the minuscule Mimikyu painting is likely to spark more of the same size, whether it be from the same artist or other Pokemon fans who get inspired by it. So long as Mimikyu doesn't show up in real life as an AI image generator has imagined, the creepy creature looks to be an ever-growing fan favorite.
