The sequels to the fifth generation of Pokemon games are fondly remembered as some of the best mainline games to come out of the franchise, building on the narrative of the original, and introduing new concepts to Pokemon like a difficulty setting.
The popularity of Pokemon Black and White and their sequels has many players hoping they'll soon be able to step back into the Unova region. While a Gen-5 remake seems the most likely course of action, following the trend set by Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, this hasn't stopped fans hoping they'll see a proper sequel to the games. One fan has even made their own concept for what Pokemon Black 3 and White 3 could look like in a future release, featuring a new legendary.

The Black 3 legendary having a fiery aesthetic while the White 3 Pokemon has lightning running over its body. This likely indicates the type differences between the legendaries in the original Pokemon Black and White games. The artist explains further in the post that their inspiration for the Black 3 and White 3 legendaries came from combining Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem together, creating the original dragon Pokemon that once roamed Unova.
Fans speculating on the potential for Black 3 and White 3 believe that it could be a prequel to the Black and White Pokemon games as much as it could be a sequel. With Pokemon Legends: Arceus letting players experience the beginnings of the Sinnoh region, many Pokemon fans think that another Legends-type game is in the works or being planned. There are a few possible locations for where another Pokemon Legends game could take place, but with the lore around Unova's legendary Pokemon, it seems as good a setting as any.
Black and White 3D remakes or Pokemon Legends game set in the Unova region are likely some years away even if they're being planned at all. In the meantime, GameFreak's focus seems entirely on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, some fans believe that there could be some similarities between the Gen 5 and Gen 9 Pokemon games.
