A gamer has encountered a shiny version of Rayquaza after playing Pokemon for fourteen years. Rayquaza itself was a legendary monster first introduced in Emerald. The Pokemon game was originally released in 2004 as the third game in the franchise's third generation.

Pokemon's third generation of games will probably live in the shadow of its predecessors and successors. While they sold well at the time, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald's sales were not as good in comparison to previous Pokemon games. However, the third generation was one that introduced many new fans to the franchise, and Emeralds' legendary Rayquaza has become a fan favorite. Now one of the game's longtime fans has encountered a shiny version of the legendary for the first time.

Shiny versions of Rayquaza were available in Pokemon Go but finding this version in the original game was a little more difficult. In fact, it was so difficult and rare that one player didn't actually think it was possible to find one until now. In a recent post, Reddit user mikeymanthesyrem revealed that while they were playing the original Game Boy Advance version of Emerald, they finally encountered a shiny version of Rayquaza for the first time after playing the franchise for 14 years. Furthermore, they stated that they thought wild encounters with shiny Pokemon were fake as the player had never once encountered them in the wild.

Shiny Pokemon were originally introduced in Pokemon Gold and Silver, and technically speaking, there is no difference between a shiny version of a Pokemon and a regular one. However, they are incredibly rare, and getting them has become a bragging point for fans. One fan, for example, reset Pokemon Crystal over 1400 times to get a shiny version of Totodile, while others have actually bred and hatched hundreds of the creatures to get one shiny version of them.

As mentioned above, Rayquaza, like many third-generation Pokemon, will probably forever live in the shadow of their predecessors, but it still has its fans. When a shiny version of Rayquaza became available in Pokemon Go, fans went crazy at the announcement. To this day, fans continue to make their own artistic tribute to the legendary creature, which includes some impressive pixel art of Rayquaza. As the years go on and as the third-generation players get older, these tributes will likely continue to roll in, and the encounters with shiny versions will continue to find their way to the internet.
