The internet has been a great way to find great cakes and cake recipes, but a mom may have just made the coolest Pokemon cake to date. It may look like any old Pokeball on the outside, but this pinata cake hides a special treat inside for one young Pokemon fan.
A Reddit user known as Ross Gough recently took to the platform to share the cake his fiancee made for their 4-year-old daughter. The tall Pokeball cake is fittingly topped in red and white buttercream. The pinata cake is made in a way that allows the parents to unveil a hidden surprise within when they slice into it. Their 4-year-old daughter doubtlessly was delighted by the Pokemon figures hidden inside as they roll out of the middle with the removal of the first slice.
Pokeball cakes are nothing new, but this mom found a unique way to create a memorable one. Several Pokemon fell out of the Pokeball cake such as Aerodactyl, Graveler, Jigglypuff, Lombre, Onix, Seal, Shroomish, Snubull, and Zapdos. This Pokemon cake is a veritable who's who of the Pokemon rap, which takes all of the Pokemon in the series and turns them into a song. While the father stated this Pokemon cake was made for his daughters' birthday, the photo made it further evident with several colorful balloons.
Many Redditors were quick to point out that the small Pokemon figures may be a choking hazard. Although they may pose a risk, it appears as though the parents ensured that only the cake was ingested for their daughter. The father also confirmed that these Pokemon toys were cheap and purchased in bulk. This raised alarm among several Pokemon fans who claimed that these small and cheap figures may be covered in lead-based paint. As one Redditor pointed out, AliExpress and Wish are subjected to the same health and safety guidelines as official product. There are over 800 Pokemon in the series, and this Pokeball cake wasn't able to include every single one. The birthday cake appears to include a healthy mix of Pokemon generations, with at least three represented. There are Pokemon from the original games, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Ross Gough didn't confirm which Pokemon game his 4-year-old daughter is a fan of, but it's likely one of the newer titles such as Pokemon Sword and Shield.
While the Pokeball cake was clearly baked without the Pokemon figures in the middle, some Redditors unfamiliar with the concept of pinata cakes questioned how the figures weren't simply puddles of plastic. This cake isn't the only pinata cake to appear on Reddit, but it may be the most creative Pokemon-related one.
