In one of the stranger crossover events of the year, it's almost time for the big Katy Perry and Pokemon crossover track. To help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic franchise Katy Perry is dropping a new track later this week called Electric and fans are getting their first major teaser for the song and its video right now.
The Katy Perry and Pokemon crossover was teased early in 2021, but the wait for the big release is finally coming to an end. Earlier this week, The Pokemon Company revealed that Katy Perry's Electric is all set to debut later this week. The company even released a teaser poster to help celebrate the upcoming track. At this point no Pokemon GO in-game crossover with the track release has been announced, but players should keep an eye out tomorrow in case there are any surprises.
Katy Perry went to Twitter to help announce the release date of the track and reveal the brand new poster for the video. Hitting the link will give users the option to save the track on Spotify so they can easily find it when it drops on Friday, May 14, 2021.
Since the poster reveal, an additional, teaser that actually includes a first look at the music video has been released. Fans of Katy Perry and Pokemon's most iconic Electric-type can now hear a small sample from the new track thanks to this clip fro Good Morning America...
The full track won't be available until tomorrow morning, so the teaser will have to hold everyone over until then. The 25th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise is a pretty major milestone, so fans should expect more events and festivities throughout the various games over the summer. Pokemon GO's summer of events is already firing off and it will be very exciting to see what the next PoGO season has in store for players to help celebrate the warm weather and the big anniversary.
It seems like a safe bet that Switch players will also receive some kind of special events on Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, as well as the party continues throughout the late spring and early summer. Pokemon is already having a pretty great year thanks to the recent release of New Pokemon Snap on the Switch (which has been mostly well-received by fans and critics) and fans still have a little more than half the year left to continue celebrating with whatever other surprise events, reveals, and crossovers The Pokemon Company has up its sleeve.
