Nintendo and Game Freak have released two trailers for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet so far and Pokemon fans are already creating unique fan art and anticipating unconfirmed returning Pokemon from previous games. One Pokemon fan has discovered a Pokemon Trainer in Pokemon Colosseum that shares the unique name of one recently revealed Professor from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Reddit user Quirkymd posted a Pokemon Colosseum image a few days ago highlighting a Rider trainer from the GameCube spinoff title. When Pokemon Colosseum was released back in 2003, it was one of the few viable ways to acquire Mythical Pokemon Jirachi via its bonus disc and since then the game has become a cult hit in the Pokemon community. Just like the Team Rocket series of the Pokemon TCG, Pokemon Colosseum introduced Dark Pokemon to the game franchise, and it may have teased one of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet professors as well.

Quirkymd's first screenshot focuses on a trainer called Rider Turo as a Pokemon battle initiates in Mt. Battle, a Pokemon Colosseum location in which players can challenge enemy trainers back to back in a 100-battle challenge. Being one of the Mt. Battle contestants, Rider Turo is considered a powerful trainer in the Pokemon Colosseum world, but his inclusion in the classic Pokemon spinoff drew some comparisons to Professor Turo by Quirkymd who noted the name similarities between the two. The second image shared by Quirkymd is a still from the June 1 Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer that shows Professor Turo introducing himself, and although the professor looks significantly different from Rider Turo, he may be the same character.

Rider Turo in Quirkymd's first image shows a Pokemon Trainer with spiky blonde hair and long sideburns wearing some cowboy gear, while Professor Turo has darker hair that's seemingly graying and is fittingly in a lab coat. The two images appearing next to each other show how far Nintendo consoles have come since the GameCube era as Rider Turo's face is barely detailed, while Professor Turo has recognizable facial features and facial hair that resembles a shadow more than the thick blonde hair on Rider Turo's face. It's currently unclear if Professor Turo from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is the same one referenced in Pokemon Colosseum, but Quirkymd suggests that it's evidence of time travel.

Pokemon fans have taken to both of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet professors since they were confirmed by the second trailer, with some praising Professor Turo as notably attractive compared to professors from more recent installments. One Pokemon fan noted that because time travel has been established by Pokemon Legends Arceus, the foundation may have been set for Professor Turo to commute through time and space to arrive at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as a main character rather than the side character he is in Pokemon Colosseum. Given that Pokemon fans don't know much about the history of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's professors, the fan theories about time travel may be accurate.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release for Nintendo Switch on November 18.
