As part of the upcoming release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, The Pokemon Company announced that a Pokemon Center is set to open in the UK this October. The pop-up store will be located in Westfield's shopping center in London and will open its doors from October 18 to November 15, the day of release of the upcoming games.
As of the moment, Pokemon Centers are still rare, with only a handful of locations all over the world, including one in the US, one in Singapore, and a few in Japan. The Pokemon Center in London will sell Pokemon merchandise, some of which are London-themed and will be available exclusively to the UK store.
The Pokemon Company revealed that the UK was chosen as a location for the center because the country served as a source of inspiration for the Galar region, the setting of both Pokemon Sword and Shield. As of the moment, The Pokemon Company did not reveal whether the pop-up store will move to other locations in the UK after its London stint.
Meanwhile, Pokemon Sword and Shield are still under development for the Nintendo Switch, serving as the first mainline Pokemon games to be released on a home console. Pokemon Sword and Shield faced backlash a few weeks ago when Game Freak announced that the upcoming games won't include all Pokemon.
The announcement quickly led to rumors that the studio is reusing models from the most recent 3DS game, which is why the developers are unable to include Pokemon models from older titles. Developers Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori quickly dispelled the rumors saying that the studio is building the entire game from the ground up.
With only a few months to go before the release of both Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Pokemon Company revealed that more information will be released on August 7, 2019. As of the moment, it is unclear whether the upcoming announcement will be in the form of a Direct presentation or through social media posts.
Pokemon Sword and Shield will launch on November 15, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
