The Pokemon Trading Card Game‘s fourth set in the Sun & Moon series, Crimson Invasion, is scheduled to launch on November 4 and will feature the addition of Ultra Beasts. The Pokemon Company revealed several new details regarding the forthcoming set today, confirming the addition of Ultra Beasts and hammering down the total cards in the set. With Guardians Rising out in May, Burning Shadows coming out August 4, and Crimson Invasion slated for November 4, it’s a good time to be a Pokemon TCG fan.
Crimson Invasion, for better or worse, will not be as large as the previous expansions in the Pokemon Sun and Moon TCG series. Though as usual it will be notably larger than its Japanese counterparts, The Awoken Hero and The Transdimensional Beast sets. Here’s what’s included in the Crimson Invasion expansion:
- Over 110 Cards
- 8 Pokemon-GX
- 9 Trainer Cards
- 1 Special Energy Card
- Ultra Beasts
The total number of Ultra Pokemon in the Crimson Invasion set is left oddly ambiguous. Pokemon Sun and Moon fans should know that there are currently seven known Ultra Beasts, which will likely make up seven of the eight GX cards. And speculation has led the community to believe that the final one will be Silvally-GX, who has previously been revealed on the Japanese sleeves for the set. Despite that, Kartana has yet to be mentioned, so perhaps there’s a surprise coming.
Crimson Invasion will also feature two Premium Collections, similar to the Espeon and Umbreon collection boxes previously released. The two Ultra Beast boxes will be themed after either Pheromosa or Buzzwole, each including the GX cards for their respective Pokemon. Each Premium Collection will obviously come with much more than just the Ultra Beast, though. Here’s the official list of contents featured in each box:
- 2 Ultra Beast Promo Cards (Either Pheromosa-GX and Celesteela-GX, or Buzzwole-GX and Xurkitree-GX)
- Ultra Beast Foil Oversize Card (Pheromosa-GX or Buzzwole-GX)
- Ultra Beast Playmat (Pheromosa-GX or Buzzwole-GX)
- 8 Pokemon TCG Booster Packs
- Pokemon Coin
- Code Card for the Pokemon TCG Online
More details on the Crimson Invasion set should be forthcoming in the months ahead, especially with so much attention being focused on the upcoming release of the Burning Shadows expansion on August 4. For those already looking to the future, the set to follow Crimson Invasion likely won’t be revealed until later this year. Western expansions are now releasing several months after their Japanese counterparts, so with Crimson Invasion launching in Japan in September a new set announcement will likely wait until after that.
The Pokemon Trading Card Game‘s fourth expansion for the Sun & Moon series, Crimson Invasion, will be available starting November 4 later this year.
