In the two weeks that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have been out, many players were happy to rediscover Generation 4 and the Sinnoh region after 15 years since the release of the original titles. Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be set in the same region as well, but many years in the past, making Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl the perfect titles to grab for nostalgia or for experiencing what Generation 4 was about for newer players. The remakes are also a great addition to the series thanks to some revamped and improved features, such as Pokemon Contests and the Grand Underground.

Because Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are hybrids of sorts when it comes to their visual style, many players can experience a compromise between the classic top-down view of the first few Generations and the more modern look of Pokemon Sword and Shield. This translated into all Pokemon getting 3D models in battle and animated sprites for when players walk with them, as well as evolution screens that are more akin to modern titles.

A Reddit user by the name of Drakeyeschrade shared a brief video showing the evolution screen for Zubat, with a very unique and rather gruesome perspective. In fact, the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl player claims that the agitated flight of Zubat alternating with that of Golbat makes it so it seems like a chase, with the former being the prey and the latter being the predator. This is especially notable when Golbat in the background starts to grow while Zubat shrinks, creating the illusion of Golbat eating Zubat in the process.

Another player commented saying that this view, while dark and not the actual representation of what's going on, would probably be realistic if Pokemon truly existed, as a sort of evolutionary chain where the superior species outlasts the inferior one. Still, Zubat's evolutionary line is one of the best in the entirety of Generation 4 due to Crobat being one of the best Poison-type Pokemon and also gaining immunity to Ground moves, which would be super effective against it.

There are things in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that make for good memes, aside from Zubat's evolution. A great example comes from Garchomp's creepy following animation, which sees the Pokemon flying ominously over the ground. There are other examples of bad animations that made players angry or amused as well, and it's likely that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will remain iconic games moving forward.
