As players go through the Sinnoh region in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, they will encounter many of the Pokemon originally native to the region. Many of these Pokemon have their own mechanics associated with them, making them interesting potential party members for those who find them.

One Pokemon that players can find in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's early game segments is the rabbit Pokemon, Buneary. It is well known for its unusually low base friendship stat and its evolved form, Lopunny. Players of either game version have the chance to find and catch this Pokemon in the wild.

Buneary is a pure Normal-type Pokemon, making it only weak to Fighting-type moves and immune to damage from Ghost-type moves. For resistances, however, it doesn't have any defensively. Its typing, weaknesses, immunities, and resistances carry on over when it evolves into Lopunny.

Unlike in the original Diamond and Pearl games, there are multiple places where players can find and catch Buneary. The easiest way to find it though is in Eterna Forest.

In Eterna Forest, Buneary has a rare chance to appear as an encounter within the tall grass. Its spawn rates aren't affected by weather or time of day, making it possible for players to search for them whenever they want. They have a base catch rate of 35.2%, making it a more easy capture compared to some other Pokemon.

The new locations where players can find Buneary are within the revamped Grand Underground. There are eight different Pokemon Hideaways within the Grand Underground that have the chance to spawn Buneary from the moment players unlock the feature. These Pokemon Hideaways are:

Glacial Cavern

Grassland Cave

Icy Cave

Riverbank Cave

Spacious Cave

Still-Water Cavern

Sunlit Cavern

Whiteout Cave

How to Evolve Buneary into Lopunny

Pokemon Lopunny Official Art

As previously stated, Buneary has an unusually low base friendship stat upon being captured by players. Most Pokemon have a base friendship stat of 70 upon being captured, making them mostly neutral toward players at the start. Buneary though has the base friendship of zero, making it despise the player upon being captured. This is usually only exclusive to legendary Pokemon, making Buneary's case notable.

Of course with Buneary's friendship stat, it requires high friendship in order to evolve into Lopunny. Friendship can be raised through various means, but if players want Buneary to grow friendlier faster, they should give it the Soothe Bell item found at Pokemon Mansion. They should additionally take it to the Massage Lady in Veilstone City once a day for a quick daily boost.
