Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have been around for a few days now, and they are a great addition to the Pokemon franchise thanks to improved Generation 4 features and quality of life changes. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are among the most beloved Pokemon games thus far, but they still had several issues that were partly addressed in Pokemon Platinum. Unfortunately, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl also have some glitches and problems.

One of the most apparent issues with the remakes is that Drifloon in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is tied to a time-gated event, so several players ended up being locked out of post-game content for a week. There have also been a number of other softlocks in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl thus far, mainly with players being stuck in some specific areas and having to reset their playthrough because of the auto-save feature.

As such, it doesn't come as a surprise that the returning Poketch is bugged as well, especially in one of its most underused features: the calculator. A Reddit user by the name of K0nr4d shared a video on the platform showcasing just how broken Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's calculator is, seeing how it bugs out whenever players input numbers are calculations that can't provide whole numbers as a result. At that point, the calculator starts providing random answers or adds strange numbers to those on display, and finally shows a full string of question marks if it cannot find the solution at all.

The debacle is especially noticeable to some players who witnessed a fellow Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl fan making a real-life Poketch for their Apple Watch with exceptional results. Alas, the calculator remains a very underused feature, and it's very unlikely that a fix for it will come anytime soon - if at all.

The remakes are still flawed on several levels, so much so that a few Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players' rival gets the wrong starter Pokemon, whereas others are encountering the wrong box Legendary Pokemon despite owning the correct game. There are other examples of similar issues too, and thus the Poketch glitch doesn't seem so bad in the grand scheme of things.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available now for Nintendo Switch.
