The Underground area was one of the most impressive features in the original releases of Diamond and Pearl on the Nintendo DS. Players could explore a labyrinth-like area to mine for materials and create and decorate their own secret base. Friends could also join in on the fun so that players can show off their rooms and play together. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl not only brings the feature back, but it expands upon the idea to create the Grand Underground.

Pokemon trainers will gain access to the Grand Underground pretty early on by finding an older man in Eterna City that lives in the house to the right of the Pokemon Center. Speak to him, and he will give players the Explorer Kit. It's easy for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players to get inside the Grand Underground, but for players having trouble finding a way out of the maze, here's what needs to be done.

How to Leave the Grand Underground

Leaving the Grand Underground in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is just as easy as getting inside it. To get out of the Grand Underground, all that players need to do is press the 'Y' button on the Nintendo Switch and then select the option that says "Go Up." There is no other way for players to leave the area, even if they try using the HM Fly or an escape rope. Even if players run around the entire Underground, no exit will lead players back to the main ground.

If players leave the Grand Underground, they will return to the same spot where they used the Explorer's Kit. However, if a player returns to the Underground, they will be dropped into a different location. So if a player spots a rare Pokemon in one of the biomes, make sure not to leave, or else it might not be there again later.

When running around the Grand Underground, players can press the R button to search for shiny spots on the walls. Players can dig into these spots to start a digging mini-game. Players need to carefully excavate the gems before the crack reaches the left side of the screen.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl are now available for the Nintendo Switch.
